Cuairt ó Lochlannach!

Tháinig lochlannach ar cuairt chuig Gaelscoil Uí Earcáin le déanaí. D'fhoghlaim na páistí faoi na huirlisí a bhí ag na lochlannaigh agus faoin cineál saol a bhí acu. Thaispeáin sé dúinn conas airgead lochlannach a dhéanamh fiú! Bhí sé an-suimiúil ar fad.

A viking came to visit Gaelscoil Uí Earcáin recently. The children learned about various aspects of viking life. We learnt about their tools and clothes and how they lit a fire. He even showed us how viking money was made! It was a very interesting insight into viking life.

Searmanas an tSolais

Rinne Rang a 6 Searmanas an tSolais sa scoil ar an 10ú Feabhra. Bhí an tÁthar Ó Cochlain linn ag ceiliúradh ar an lá. Seo é searmans a bhíonn ag na páistí roimh an Chomhneartú a bheas ar siúl an 26ú Feabhra. Rinne na páistí tionscamh iontach faoi na Sacraimint atá tóghta acu go dtí seo. Bhí an halla maisithe le healaín den scoth a rinne na páistí. Tá muid uilig ag súil go mór leis an Chomhneartú féin

6th class took part in the Service of Light in the school on the 10th February. Father Ó Cochlain was the celebrant on the day. This is a very special service that happens before the Confirmation, which takes place on the 26th February. The children did fantastic projects about the Sacraments they have taken so far. The hall was beautifully decorated with art the children made.We’re all looking forward to the Confirmation now.

Cúrsa Rothaíochta / Cycling Safety Course

Ghlac Rang a 5 páirt i gcúrsa ar sábháilteacht rothaíochta an tseachtain seo. Tá “Cycling Safety and Skills school” ag cuir an cúrsa ar fáil dúinn Beidh 5 cheacht i gceist sa chúrsa leis na páistí

5th class took part in the first cycling safety training class run by the Cycling Safety and Skills School this week.
The training proves invaluable to everyone. For those who already cycled to school, the benefits will be obvious, but training is just as important for children who cycle only at home and during the holidays. In fact, everyone who will ever get on a bike needs to learn how to use it safely and needs to learn the skills to recognise danger on the road and how to react to it and this course will show the children the way to cycle safely . The course will consist of 5 lessons over five weeks.

Seachtain na Gaeilge / Irish Week

Rinneamar go leor rudaí le linn seachtain na Gaeilge. Rinne muid leabhar beag léitheoireacht do Naíonán bheaga. Rinne muid clár raidió agus thug Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada cuairt orainn anseo sa scoil. Chomh maith leis sin rinneamar cleachtadh ar na seanfhocail atá sa Ghaeilge.

We participated in different activities during Irish Week in our school. We wrote and designed our own Irish books for Junior Infants. We made and our own radio show and it went out live around our school. Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada came to our school during the week and we had lots of fun playing different games and getting to know them through Irish. We also learned about our Irish phrases and designed our own posters.

Brioscáin Ríse Seacláide

D’ fhoghlaim muid conas brioscáin ríse seacláide a dhéanamh ,mar chuid de chéad chéimeanna. Bhain muid an-taitneamh á ndhéanamh. Bhí seans againn go léir a bheith páirteach.

As a part of the first steps writing program in the school we learned how to make rice crispy buns. We enjoyed making them. Every child in the class had a chance in the process of making them.

Ealaíontóir na Míosa – Pablo Picasso

Rinneamar staidéar ar shaol Pablo Picasso le déanaí, ceann de na healaíontóirí is cáiliúla ón Spáinn. Bhaineamar féin triail as shárshaothar a dhéanamh – ag baint úsáid as stíl Phicasso.

We learned about the life and times of Pablo Picasso in class today and even tried making a painting just like him.

Comhghairdeas le Adam, Ben, Deirdre agus Jenna (Rang a 5) a tháinig sa 3ú háit sa chomórtas tráth na gceist aréir. Bhí neart spraoi againn.

We would like to congratulate Adam, Ben, Deirdre and Jenna (5th class) for coming in 3rd place in the annual Ballygall Credit Union Quiz last night. The children enjoyed the event. Thank you Ballygall Credit union for organising a great event.

Beidh daltaí rang a 5 agus 6 ag freastail ar comórtas Tráth na gceist atá á reáchtáil ag Conradh na hÉireann den Chomhair Creidmheasa. Beidh sé ar siúl Luan 3 Feabhra 2014 ar 7 i.n. Ta sé ar siúl sa scoil “Sacred Heart i bhFionnghlas. Beidh ceathair ar gach foireann. Go n-eirí leo ar an lá.

Pupils from 5th and 6th classes will take part in a School Quiz organised by the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU). The quiz will take place on 3 February 2014 in the Sacred Heart school hall at 7p.m. The teams will consist of four students on each team.
