D’ fhoghlaim muid conas brioscáin ríse seacláide a dhéanamh ,mar chuid de chéad chéimeanna. Bhain muid an-taitneamh á ndhéanamh. Bhí seans againn go léir a bheith páirteach. Bhí cuid de na páistí ag briseadh an tseacláid, dhoirt páistí eile an bhrioscáin ríse isteach agus bhí na páistí eile ag meascadh an tseacláid agus an bhrioscáin ríse le chéile. Scríobh muid amach an modh le go mbeadh sé ar eolas againn arís conas é a dhéanamh. Bhí an-spraoi againn agus bhí cead againn na brioscáin ríse seacláide a thabhairt abhaile! As a part of the first steps writing program in the school we learned how to make rice crispy buns. We enjoyed making them. Every child in the class had a chance in the process of making them like breaking the chocolate,pouring the rice crispies in the bowl and mixing it together. We wrote out the recipe so we would know how to make them again. We had loads of fun and the children were able to take a rice crispy bun home! We started learning to play the tin whistle this term . We learned a few simple tunes. Everyone in class is doing a lot of practice and we hope to progress to harder tunes in the near future. Bhí muid ag ceiliúradh an bhliain Nua Síneach agus ag foghlaim faoin gceiliúradh a bhíonn acu sa tSín . D’foghlaim muid faoi scéalta ón tSín áit go gcreidtear go raibh dragún darbh ainm Nian agus gur tháinig sé gach bliain chun faitíos a chuir ar na daoine .Tar éis tamaill ,fuair na daoine amach go raibh faitíos ar Nian roimh an dath dearg chomh maith le torann ard. D’úsáid siad iad seo chun ruaig a chuir ar an dragún. Is mar geall ar seo a bhíonn an dath dearg le feiceáil i ngach áit i rith na bliana nua Síneach. Is deá chomhra é an dath dearg sa chultúr Síneach. Bhí seans againn cleachtadh a dhéanamh ar scríbhneoireacht ón tSín agus cur síos a dhéanamh orainn féin i bhfocail Síneach . Rinne muid dragún mór sa rang le haghaidh na bliana nua Síneach. Bhain na páistí an-sult as an gceiliúradh!
In class we celebrated the Chinese New Year. We learned about the origins of the festival. The story was a about a dragon called Nian. According to folklore,Nian came each year to scare the people but the people discovered that the dragon was afraid of the colour red as well as loud noises. This is one of the reasons that the colour red is used during the Chinese New Year,also in the Chinese culture the colour red is a symbol of good luck .We had a chance in class to practise Chinese writing and we picked out different words to describe ourselves. We made a dragon in class for the Chinese New Year. The pupils enjoyed the celebrations! Tá páistí rang a haon ag déanamh deachtú i mBéarla ón 13ú de mhí Eanáir. Faighann na páistí abairtí bunaithe ar scéim deachtú a chuireann béim ar na focail coitianta a úsáidtear i scríbhneoireacht an Bhéarla. Faigheann na páistí ocht bhfocal le foghlaim a fuair siad mícheart in sna habairtí a tugadh dóibh. Nuair a fhaigheann siad gach ceann ceart beidh siad ag dul ar aghaidh do dtí focail ón liosta ‘dolch’ le haghaidh litriú. Beidh orthu a n-abairtí féin a scríobh ansin ag úsáid na bhfocal. On the 13th on January, first class began dictation in English. Each week the children will be asked to write sentences from a dictation scheme based on frequently used English words. The children will get eight words to learn which they had incorrect. If the child gets each word correct in their initial test they will receive words from the ‘dolch list’ for their English spelling. They will be asked to write their own sentences for homework using these words. |
